Carole Waller is a painter who specialises in painting with dye directly onto cloth for the purpose of making completely unique painted silk clothing – art to wear (called Wearable Art in the US). She has perfected the art of painting directly onto silk, making a wearable and washable painting with incredible richness of mark and colour.
Her silk clothes are contemporary, stylish and timeless. The label is ‘I’m no walking Canvas’. Carole paints directly onto cloth with using dye with paintbrushes – like paint on canvas. The resulting fabric is lightfast and washable. A variety of techniques are used in the paintings to achieve a semi transparent effect. Unique painted cloth which creates shadows because of its transparency, and which shimmers with colour.
