The hub of the Bath Art Affair
12 - 21 November
Private View Friday 12 Nov 6-9pm
The Octagon Chapel provides the perfect setting to engage with fairy-tale creatures and dreamlike vistas, capturing a world of fantasy and imagination and questioning the fallible nature of human perception.
Mythological beasts and beauties from Bristol-based Beth Carter accompany the emotive bronze sculptures of Bath-based Patrick Haines; a Crow, wings outstretched, poised on the back of a child’s chair, a Wren pecking at the corner of a Bible - an unsettling glimpse at a fleeting moment in time.
bo.lee gallery is very pleased to be working with London-based lenticular artist Jeff Robb whose illusionary figures move within the frame, creating three dimensional worlds to entice and seduce.
Gill Rocca will debut her 'miniatures' - a series of small paintings of liminal spaces between the real and imagined, alongside new video installations that allure the viewer into a hidden inner world of the wood. A childhood space to play and explore also becomes a place with its own rules - not to be visited alone, or after dusk - both innocent and sinister.
Other artist include fascinating trickery from London-based sculptor Garry Martin, fairytale scenes from Paula Rego and Elisabeth Frink and an illusionary glimpse by YBA Gavin Turk.
The Wood For the Trees will transport you into a dreamlike labyrinth where the walls tell stories and animals come to life.
