Bath Spa University Postgraduate Artists & Designers 20 - 26 November

The exhibition features work from recent graduates within the subject areas of Ceramics, and Fashion and Textiles.  It fully demonstrates the rich talent and creative ability of people studying to Master’s level within the School.

One exhibitor is Ceramics artist, Mirka Golden-Hann, who has contributed a floor installation consisting of hundreds of stacked brightly hued bowls, challenging previous assumptions about salt glaze and colour in ceramics.

Sarah Purvey's Ceramic practice is intrinsically linked with the human condition. Large vessels employ painterly, gestural marks to embody a physical melting point between a controlled structure and intuitive emotional release.

Among the exhibitors from Fashion and Textiles is Jessica Pickett, a wedding dress designer who dyes and embellishes the fabrics with her own embroidery and print designs. She specialises in unusual and unique bridal designs inspired by elements of Orientalism and its influence on the arts and fashion of early 20th century Europe.

The exhibition also includes work by embroidery designer Jan Knibbs who recently won an international competition, the Swarovski Prize, and by Claire Platt, a conceptual textile artist whose work on display is inspired by aeroplanes and birds. She combines knit and embroidery and has recently held successful exhibitions in gallery spaces in Bristol.
